The Central Coordination Cell of SGT University organized a motivational guest lecture on “Dealing with self-inflicted biases” as part of its Lecture Series on Women Leadership. Renowned author, and Vice-President – of Fortune 100 Company, Deepika Chawla, was the guest speaker at the event.
The Lecture Series on Women Leadership is an integral part of SGT University’s mission to empower women and create a more conducive work environment for their growth.
During her address to the participants, Deepika Chawla emphasized the critical issues of gender parity and the gender pay gap in the corporate world. She urged women not to be afraid to be themselves, to stand up and speak their minds, and to be vulnerable. Additionally, she encouraged women to acquire the skills necessary to compete in the challenging corporate environment. She then delivered a presentation on the five ways to create a personal brand, which are as follows: Know who you are – what are your core values? Have a mentor, contribute without expecting returns; have the courage to ask for what you want and speak for yourself; and what’s your story?
The women participants shared their heartfelt personal stories of courage in the face of obstacles they had gone through in their careers to attain success.
Also, Dr. Waheeda Khan, Professor & Advisor, Faculty of Behavioural Sciences, said that there is 50 percent of women from faculty, non-faculty, and students at SGT University – an impressive feat.
Overall the event was a roaring success that inspired and motivated the women participants – encouraging them to trust in their abilities and face challenges. Also in attendance were Dr. Rajneesh Wadhwa, Dean, Office of External Affairs; Rajeev Gulati, Adviser, SGT University and the members of the Central Coordination Cell.
